This course will introduce you to the experimental methods that underpin physics and to develop confidence in collecting, analysing, and interpreting data. Through a series of practical investigations that are fully supported by a dedicated team of Lab Coaches, you will learn the value of rigorous research, useful records and evaluating the assumptions and limitations of the experimental method. Throughout the course you will develop essential STEM skills in uncertainty analysis, graphical presentation and report writing skills. And, by working with new equipment and people, you will strengthen your adaptability alongside your ability to solve problems, work in teams and communicate effectively.
By the end of the course, you will have established a strong foundation in experimental practice that supports your future studies and professional development as physicists.
